description:
The familiar but much loved wild primrose. Rosettes of quite large crinkly, deep-veined leaves, evergreen or semi-evergreen, and from early spring, numerous cheerful, pale yellow flowers, darker in the centres and usually fragrant.

cultivation:
Adaptable to many conditions but prefers moist, well drained, fertile and humus-rich, neutral to acid soils in partial shade. Will tolerate full sun if the soil does not dry out.

propagation:
By seed or division of clumps. In favourable conditions, will self-seed freely.

usage:
Perfect for open woodland and shady banks.
