Dessert pear producing very high quality fruits with a excellent sweet flavour. They are medium to large, yellow-green skins with some russetting and often red-flushed. White flowers in spring. Unfortunately rather susceptible to blight.
Moist well drained soil in sun. Performs best in slightly warmer conditions then apples. Also crops a bit earlier, in late summer or early autumn.
Needs to be grown with other trees for polination.
By grafting, usually onto a Quince rootstock.
Edible fruit, this variety is often grown commercially.
