description:
Medium sized tree of spreading habit. Peeling, scaly, dark brown bark. Ovate to broadly elliptic, toothed, glossy dark green leaves, greyish felty underneath and slightly lobed near the base. Clusters of white flowers in late spring, followed by rounded russetty yellow-orange berries with brownish speckles, about 1cm long.

Moist, well drained soil in sun or part shade.

From seed.

other notes:
Found in Western Europe from Portugal to South West Germany. Probably a hybrid derived from the Wild Serice Tree, Sorbus torminalis and one of the Whitebeams.
