Small tree of upright growth. Pinnate leaves with narrow leaflets and held longer into autumn than most other rowans. White flowers in spring, followed by bunches of orange-red berries, freely produced in autumn, even on young plants.
Best in moderately fertile, moist, well drained soil, preferably neutral to acid, but quite tolerant of most reasonable conditions. Quite drought tolerant. Sun or light dappled shade.
Excellent, well behaved tree for small gardens.
Introduced to cultivation by the Taiwan Forestry Institute in 1981.
