A rare, medium-sized, attractive tree with large, broadly ovate leaves, edged with conspicuous bristle-like, soft teeth. Reddish tinged when young becoming bright green. Creamy-white flowers in autumn. Very slow-growing in cultivation.

Any reasonably fertile, moist, well drained soil, preferably neutral to alkaline, in sun or part shade.
May be hard pruned if required, in winter or early spring.
