description:
Intriguing border perennial which needs close inspection to really appreciate its beauty. The flowers, which appear on tall stems above Lanceolate foliage, have six petals which are white, spotted with mauve. Leaves are sometimes spotted dark brown. Spreads by stolons. Exotic appearance.

cultivation:
Moist but reasonably well drained, humus-rich soil which is not too alkaline. Best in part or deep shade. Due to the late flowering a sheltered position is needed in cold areas. Mulch deeply before winter if possible.

propagation:
From seed or by division in early spring.
