Dense, spiny shrub producing bright yellow, pea-like flowers over a long period, mostly from March to July.
Often much lower growing and smaller than its potential size, depending on position and conditions.
Tough, adaptable and drought tolerant, thrives on poor, sandy or rocky, acidic soils and open, exposed locations.
Not normally cultivated.
Native to Spain and Portugal, found in scrubby and rocky places.
The seeds are poisonous.
