Upright multi-stemmed evergreen shrub. Leathery, oblong, slightly toothed leaves. turn scarlet and bronze in autumn. Clusters of pink flowers in spring, with reddish bracts, followed by dark blue fruits up to 9mm in diameter.
Needs a moist, very acid soil.
Native to Sikkim, eastern Himalayas.
