description:
Upright deciduous shrub with toothed dark green leaves, bronze when young and turning red-purple in autumn. Dense clusters of small tubular, fragrant, white or pink-tinged flowers, borne on the bare stems in late autumn and, in mild weather, through winter to early spring. Bright red berries follow.

cultivation:
Any reasonably fertile, moist, well drained soil in sun or part shade.
If required, prune back shoots after flowering and preferably before the start of summer. Remove a proportion of the older stems at the base.
