description:
Spreading, suckering, deciduous shrub with outer branches that often bow to the ground and may root. Large broadly ovate to rounded, toothed and strongly veined leaves, downy when they first emerge. Good autumn foliage colours of yellow and purple-reds. White, lacecap flowers in late spring and early summer, later followed by ovoid red berries which ripen to black-purple.

cultivation:
Moist, well drained soil in part shade. Thrives in woodland conditions.
If required, prune back shoots after flowering.
