Short-lived perennial usually cultivated as a biennial or annual. Any reasonable, well drained moist soil in full sun or partial shade.
From seed sown in early spring or late summer, usually in trays, preferably at between 15 and 20°C. Cover seed lightly and do not exclude light as this helps germination, which usually takes 14 to 21 days. May be transplanted into small pots for over-wintering. Late sowings will flower the following spring.
