description:
Very vigorous ornamental vine with huge heart shaped, shallowly lobed and toothed leaves which have dramatic autumn colour. Small inedible, blue-black fruits in autumn.

cultivation:
Best in well drained, fertile, neutral to alkaline soil and full sun or part shade. Tolerant and robust once established.
Prune hard in late winter to control size, but always needs a lot of space.

propagation:
From seed, by hardwood cuttings or layering. Young plants may be slow to establish.
